Commissions
Queer Up North is committed to new work - to creating it, as well as showing it - and at the heart of Queer Up North since its very first edition in 1992 have been its commissions. The roll-call of commissioned artists over the last two decades includes many now well-known creators of innovative and groundbreaking work, like Robert Pacitti, Ronnie Burkett, and Ursula Martinez.
The commissioned artists in the 2009 festival were Ursula Martinez, Starving Artists and Chris Goode.
Artists currently under commission include Qasim Riza Shaheen, Starving Artists and a new joint commissioning scheme with Development Lab at Bradford's Theatre in the Mill.

The new work we're committed to supporting and making is increasingly difficult to fund. If you would like to help us finance a new commission by becoming a Queer Up North Angel, please get in touch. We've an exciting roster of new projects in development for 2010 and beyond and we'd love to tell you all about them.
