queerupnorth commissions and produce, both alone and in a variety of partnerships, new creative work from artists and performers of all types; theatre, visual art, music, literature, cabaret, exhibitions and dance.
Whether we’re supporting the development of a young artist, or commissioning a full-scale piece from an established company, the creation of new work and the nurturing of all types of makers of queer art, is the most important thing queerupnorth does.
Over the last few years we’ve worked with award-winning artist Sadie Lee, the great Canadian marionette artist Ronnie Burkett, writer-director Rikki Beadle-Blair, and Manchester’s groundbreaking theatre-makers Quarantine. The work we make goes on to be seen throughout the UK and, often, internationally.
Would you like to play a part in bringing innovative new productions to life? We’re planning new theatre, music, visual art, and exhibition projects for 2009 and 2010 – but we need your help to make our ambitious programme of work happen.
