Queer Up North Needs You!
Queer Up North commissions and produces a variety of new creative work from artists and performers of all types – theatre and performance, visual art, music, literature, cabaret, and dance.
Whether we’re supporting the development of a young artist or commissioning a full-scale piece from an established company, the creation of new work and the nurturing of all types of makers of queer art is the most important thing Queer Up North does. There isn’t another queer festival anywhere in the world that supports new work to the degree that we try to - and our Learning and Participation programme is unique, working both in schools and with a variety of community groups. Queer Up North is a one-off, special to Manchester.
This year, we are launching a Development Programme aimed at establishing new networks and dialogues across Manchester and beyond with a view to promoting what we do more widely and to new communities who have not yet discovered our work. We want even more people to come to the Festival, to discuss it, create a dialogue with it and enjoy it.
The festival operates on very modest means and we also need to raise money to secure its long-term future.
There are lots of ways in which YOU can help!
You could make a donation - any amount small or large would make a tremendous difference and you could become an Angel of the North for as little as £2 per month!
You could become a volunteer – we need help during the Festival with all sorts of things. If you can spare some time, we’d love to find you something to do - please see the 'get involved' link above.
You could sponsor us – or introduce us to someone you know who may be interested in making a donation or sponsoring some aspect of the Festival programme or education & participation work (which goes on all year round).
